What is Mountain Man Rendezvous?
Mountain Man Rendezvous is a chance for Scouts to step back in time to see what it was like when pioneers roamed the frontier, trapping animals and trading with Native Americans.
Who attends? The rendezvous is for Boy Scouts and 2nd year Webelos that have been invited by a troop. This is a chance to learn and have fun doing the things that were typically done by mountain men.
Parking is VERY limited; please carpool
or have someone ferry you there and pick you up on Sunday!!!
What happens at the Rendezvous? Scouts learn how to do many of the things a frontier mountain man did including: Archery, Gold Panning, Black Powder Rifle Shooting, Knife and Tomahawk Throwing, Rope Making, Candle Making, Flint and Steel, Dutch Oven Cooking, Display Rifles, Make Bullets, Silkscreen (bring a blank T-shirt), and other events yet to be determined. Scouts get to see how early pioneers lived by seeing an authentic reproduction of a mountain man encampment. The encampment has period-correct tents, cooking gear, regalia and an authentic rendezvous trader.
Shooting Black Power rifles is for Boy Scouts ONLY.
Each Scout must have the appropriate permission slip (will be emailed to leader) and bring it with you or you won’t be allowed to shoot – no exceptions.
Sign-up begins Sept. 7 for Pacific Skyline units.
After Sept. 18 non-council units can enroll.
THERE ARE NO REFUNDS, SO PLEASE DON’T OVERBOOK
Registration is limited, so register early!!
